Ka-Kin Cheuk - Postdoctoral Fellow - Chao Center for Asian Studies

The grant supported student researchers to complete ethnographic field work among the Asian-American communities in Houston. Due to COVID restrictions, students participated in virtual field trips to Sikh, Zoroastrian, and Chinese Buddhist Temples and completed online interviews. The semester ended with a web symposium.

he grant supported an online webinar featuring Rice undergraduate students with invited speakers, Professor David Oh (Associate Professor of Communication Arts (Media Studies), Ramapo College of New Jersey and Professor Neha Vora (Associate Professor of Anthropology, Lafayette College) to rethink Asian and Asian American experiences in innovative and impactful ways (co-hosted by CERCL, the Chao Center for Asian Studies, and the Asia Society of Texas)
