The PJHC Black Lives Matter Edit-a-thon will improve Wikipedia’s coverage of topics relating to anti-Black racism and racial justice.
Key aims of the Edit-a-thon are to:
Create and revise Wikipedia articles addressing the social, political, and legal contexts and issues that underlie disparities targeted by Black Lives Matter
Create articles that discuss campaigns against systemic racism.
Create articles on notable Black people and organizations
Provide free access to knowledge and information that support racial justice
Empower more students to learn how to edit Wikipedia as a means of counteracting anti-Black racism in the encyclopedia
This event is sponsored by Rice University's Program in Poverty, Justice, and Human Capabilities (PJHC) in collaboration with the Center for Women, Gender, & Sexuality, the Center for Engaged Research and Collaborative Learning, and the Fund for Racial Justice Teaching and Programming.
